....................................--------------------------

At the WomenSpace Retreat the issue of money was decided upon as the major priority for Cleveland's women's organizations for the coming year. This was to include work on fundraising sources, education concerning money and a credit union.

A few of us have met several times since then about the credit union. We have come along far enough to know that it will not exist without help... a lot of help!

In order to start the credit union we need between 10 and 20 people to put in time over the next few months. This would include work on the following: 1.

Developing publicity and educational material

2. Seeking commitments for deposits from organizations, businesses and individuals

3. Developing and setting up the administrative aspects of the credit union.

Once this has been done and it is ready to run, we need:

1. A credit Committee this committee will review loan applications.

2. An auditing Committee This committee will review all credit union records monthly.

3. A publicity Committee. This committee will continuously alert the public to our purpose and our existence..

4. A Board of Directors The Board will set credit union policy. Ideally, they should represent a wide spectrum of women in the community.

Once the credit union is operating, the com. mitment of time should be no more than three hours per month for most people involved. How. ever, to put it in a position to begin operating will require people willing to attend approximately two meetings per month and spend some time on their own, as needed. Those who choose to work now need not necessarily commit themselves for the long term.

If

The credit union will not get started without the expenditure of a great deal of time and energy. you find some to spare for a few months, please let us know. Call Ann Epstein (991-3937) or Vivian Lugo-Berkman (932-9185 or 321-8537).
